Our Health: Navigating Health Care Services for Seniors

Our Health: Navigating Health Care Services for Seniors

All Ages
Four experts in the health care field who can share information about the services and supports available to seniors in our community.

The process of aging is inevitable and the vast majority of seniors are able to live active and independent lives. However, what happens when a senior begins to encounter problems and requires more care? The health care system can be complex and sometimes challenging to navigate.

Dr. Keith Rose (moderator) will engage four experts in the health care field who can share information about the services and supports available to seniors in our community and how to access the system when you need help. These experts are:

April Smith, Director Home and Community Care, North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network

Annalee King, Manager for the North Simcoe Muskoka Specialized Geriatric Services team

Dr. Richard Coutts, Attending Physician, Complex Continuing Care GBGH

Brenda Hicks, Caregiver with personal experience in navigating the health care system as her mother’s health deteriorated

Information and representatives from the North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network and Askennonia Seniors Centre will be available in the MCC lobby prior to this event.

If you are unable to attend in person, you can watch the Navigating Health Care Services for Seniors in 4 weeks online at "Our Health" Videos from Rogers.

Admission is free with your registration (opens April 17).

There are often seats available at the door on the day of the discussion but these will be offered on a first come, first served basis and admission cannot be guaranteed without registration.
